A little about myself...
Welcome to my web page. I am in my third year at St. Philip Neri and am very excited to be a part of the Middle School team. I have a lifelong love for all things history. I worked at the Maryland State Archives as a Reference Archivist. At the Archives, I worked with old books, letters, and other material dating back to the founding of Maryland in 1634. After six years with the State, I moved to the B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore where I worked as the Curator of Archives & Small Objects. Both jobs allowed me to learn much about American and Maryland history. My time working with historic material and researchers piqued my interest in teaching as a profession. I made the switch to teaching in the Spring 2012 when I was a long-term substitute for middle school Math and Religion classes. In the Fall of 2012, I began working full-time at St. Pius X School as a Social Studies and Religion Teacher. I was at St. Pius for 8 years. St. Pius closed in 2021.
I worked towards certification in Secondary Social Studies at Notre Dame of Maryland University while I worked as a substitute teacher at St. Philip Neri and St. Pius X Schools. I have experience teaching Middle School Religion, Mathematics, English Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies.
My personal interests include hiking, camping, spending time with my two sons and daughter, and reading. My favorite historic period is the U.S. Civil War, but I also enjoy learning about ancient Chinese art, culture, and history. I am a member of the St. Philip Neri Knights of Columbus Council #14612.
I enjoy hot and iced coffee from Dunkin' Donuts. If I have to stay after school for a late meeting or event, I prefer to eat out at Panera or Chick-fil-A. While I tend to choose salty snacks like pretzels and potato chips, my occasional sweet tooth leads me to Snickers bars and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups!
I look forward to teaching the St. Philip Neri Middle School students Religion, World History, Geography, and American History.
